The Advisory Board

The Milinda Advisory Board is composed of long-time practitioner-scholars with many decades of experience teaching the Buddhadharma. They are appointed by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche to help structure the program and curriculum, advise on teachers and pedagogy, and mentor individual trainees.

Elizabeth Callahan

Elizabeth Callahan

Elizabeth Callahan is a Tibetan translator in the Kagyu tradition. She completed two three-year retreats in the Karma Kagyu tradition under the guidance of Kalu Rinpoche, is a student of Khenpo Tsültrim Gyamtso Rinpoche, and has been a Tsadra Foundation Fellow since 2002. 


Her most recent translation is the first Marpa Kagyu of Jamgon Kongtrul's Treasury of Instructions, and previous translations include Moonbeams of Mahamudra by Dakpo Tashi Namgyal. She is also a director of Marpa Foundation and gardens in upstate New York.

Andy Karr

Andy Karr

Andy Karr has practiced and studied the dharma for over fifty years under the guidance of such great masters as Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and Khenpo Tsültrim Gyamtso Rinpoche. 


He is the author of Into the Mirror: A Buddhist Journey through Mind, Matter, and the Nature of Reality and Contemplating Reality. He also coauthored The Practice of Contemplative Photography: Seeing the World with Fresh Eyes.

Sean Price

Sean Price

Sean Price has been a monk since 1994. Under the guidance of Kyabje Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche, Sean locates and preserves rare Tibetan books and translates liturgical texts. He is also the director of Tibetan publications for Tsadra Foundation, and has helped to produce thousands of Tibetan texts and e-books. 


Sean is the translator of The Emanated Scripture of Manjushri: Shabkar’s Essential Meditation Instructions. He also contributed translations to The Supreme Siddhi of Mahamudra: Teachings, Poems, and Songs of the Drukpa Kagyu Lineage.

Elizabeth Mattis Namgyal

Elizabeth Mattis Namgyal

Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel has studied and practiced the Buddhadharma for over 35 years under the guidance of her root teacher, Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche. After spending six years in retreat, Rinpoche appointed her Retreat Master of Samten Ling in Colorado. She also teaches at Mangala Shri Bhuti. 


Elizabeth is the author of The Power of an Open Question and The Logic of Faith, and the founder of a secular non-profit organization called The Middle Way Initiative.
